1 Day Sintra, Cascais e Cabo da Roca

Welcome to our tour on the most western region of Europe!

In the morning will depart towards the village of Sintra. Upon arriving we will be faced with the various shades of greens that vegetation presents, like strokes of a watercolor.

Breathe the English Romanticism of the nineteenth century with its gardens and forests , man made with the intention of appearing wild and eternal . Poets like Lord Byron were attracted and lived in Sintra!

Sintra lies encased on a mountain that protects her from the Atlantic winds allowing a more gentle and pleasant temperature.

Since the Middle Age that, during the summer months, Sintra was the place of destination of the Kings of Portugal and there Court. Nowadays, you will find Sintra filled of ancient palaces and noble houses.

In the center, where we will do a stopover, there are several shops where you can see some of the traditional Portuguese products.

From Sintra we leave for the West, and we'll head towards "where the land ends and the sea begins"! The “Cabo da Roca”.

Cabo da Roca is the most western point of Europe. At a height of roughly 140 meters above sea level, one can see the magnificent Atlantic Ocean, Cascais and the coastline with its beaches and high cliffs

After Cabo da Roca, waiting for us will be the village of Cascais, with its bay open to the sea.

Cascais grew up with the fashion to go swimming on the sea in the second half of the nineteenth century: from Sintra the Kings of Portugal began to go to Cascais. The village stayed always linked to Monarch D. Carlos I who wisely looked to the sea and its potential and wanted to study it.

During World War II, Cascais and Estoril were a haven for kings, princes and spies: in the collective memory of the people, King Alfonso XIII of Spain and King Constantine of Greece still wander by the bay of Cascais.

In Cascais we will have a pause to lunch and a bit of free time.

The return to Lisboa will be done by the seafront. This must be one of the most beautiful and scenic european roads: snaking through the Atlantic, till the mouth of the Tagus river and going until we reach Lisboa, passing by the Estoril and the imposing fort of S. João da Barra. We will make the road that James Bond did in the 1969 film: On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

For your confort our tour will begin and end at the place which suits you best.
